In the island music scene of Hawaii and California that is gaining worldwide attention, the artist who seeks to sit on its throne crowned “Polynesian Reggae Queen” is IRIE LOVE.

IRIE is born in 1985 in a town called Kailua in Oahu, Hawaii. In 1999, she won her way up as a finalist of Oahu’s local music convention “Brown Bags to Stardom”, where she was discovered by the owner of Quiet Storm Records who was on the panel of judges. With her model-like figure and vocal brilliance, she made an electrifying debut on the compilation album of “Roots Music Vol.2” on a funky rendition of “TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD” (Original song by Chaka Khan; written by Stevie Wonder) performed by Hawaii’s popular roots rock reggae group Ooklah the Moc.

Soon after, IRIE flies to Los Angeles to pursue her studies in musical business. By 2002 she had built a notable resume in the ‘mainland’ as she contributed as back vocals for artists such as PINK and Chaka Khan. In 2006, IRIE travels to Jamaica to compete in a competition sponsored by Red Stripe and is featured by local media. Subsequently, she is signed to Gedion Music as a contributing member of the prestigious reggae production by the legendary Morgan Heritage. As the opening act of Morgan Heritage, she traveled across North America, the Carribean, South America, Africa, Europe, and the U.K. In 2008, IRIE releases a mini-album called “Ehiku”. In 2009, five bonus tracks were added to “Ehiku” and released as “THE LIFE OF LOVE”, her first overseas record from Japan. After making a multitude of appearances on reggae compilation albums, the IRIE LOVE name makes a permanent impression on the worldwide reggae scene. Currently, she travels between Hawaii, Los Angeles, London, and Africa for her performances and recordings, as well as collaborations and guest appearances with FIJI (the don of island music), the NorCal Polynesian reggae collective ValuFa, Maxizamus, Lee Francis and Salaam Remi in London, and the Adriatic Sound in Italy.

Her singles featuring FIJI “IT IS WUT IT IS”, and “MY LOVE” becomes a number one hit on the island charts. Notably, “IT IS WUT IT IS” was a song featured in the in-flight entertainment aboard Hawaiian Airlines, and was replayed on Island music radio stations extensively.

In 2012, she releases her first album “THIS IS IRIE LOVE”. In Japan, the album was released from Victor Entertainment with an additional bonus track. In the summer of 2014, her song “STEP UP” produced by London’s Lee Francis becomes an island-wide hit in Hawaii, and with the subsequent release of the music video filmed in Hawaii it gains worldwide attention. In September of the same year, IRIE makes her first appearance in Japan accompanied by DJ HAPA BOY of EKM records, and performs alongside LIKKLE MAI, the most popular Japanese reggae singer in Hawaii, in Yokohama. Moreover, in Hamamatsu, she was invited as a guest performer of Japanese Lovers rock singer Pushim & Home Grown. With her sure shot skill and radiating presence, this live performance made a great impression on the Japanese music scene both to listeners and the industry.

Later, IRIE LOVE releases cover of J-POP song “BABY I LOVE YOU” under the production of Lee Francis. Simultaneously, she joins the MANA MAOLI COLLECTIVE on “ROOTED”, a duet with Kimie Miner (enhanced by Lee’s ‘heavy riddim’), on a self-titled compilation CD “MANA MAOLI” aimed to fundraise the public charter schools in Hawaii. In 2016, the successfully crowd-funded, second album “We Rise”, a prolific record heavily influenced by her African roots. Following her video appearance on “HAWAI’I ALOHA: Playing For Change” of MANA MELE a prestigious performance where forty Hawaiian musical artists perform in a relay, IRIE is featured on Taz Vegas’ new single of 2017 “Don’t Stop the Children” with Jamaican singer Notch. This single became a hit not only in the UK but also the world wide music scene.

Her summer single “MADE IN THE ISLANDS” produced by the renown Imua Garza (producer of GO Aloha entertainment responsible for groups such as island music group Opihi Pickers, Rebel Souljahz, Kolohe Kai) is due for release in August. The music video is also due for subsequent release.

The new song is due to be performed live at the launch party of “Te Aito”, the men’s collection of Hinano Life the apparel brand of Tahitian beer maker Hinano.

Aside from her career in music and modeling, her private life is notable as she makes video appearances introducing Hawaiian cuisine such as the Koko Head Cafe, a popular local restaurant in Kaimuki of Oahu island, and is also the sports instructor for “IRIE CYCLE”.

Through her musical contributions to the island roots music based in Hawaii and Polynesia, and the pursuit and discovery of her roots in African heritage, the aspiring singer and young diva of Kailua have matured into one of the most talented, valuable artists of the island music scene.

現在、世界的に注目をされているハワイ・カリフォルニアを中心としたアイランドミュージックシーンにおいて、POLYNESIAN REGGAE QUEENの名を欲しいままにしているのがアイリーラヴだ。

アイリーは1985年ハワイ・オアフ島カイルアに生まれ、1999年、地元オアフのミュージックコンペティション “ブラウンバッグストゥスターダム” でファイナリストに残り、審査員だったクワイエットストームレコーズのオーナーに見いだされる。スティーヴィーワンダーのペンによるチャカ・カーンの大ヒット曲 “TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD”（ハワイの大人気ルーツロックレゲエグループ Ooklah The Mocによるファンキーな演奏）がRoots Music Vol.2 コンピレーションに収録され、そのモデル並みの容姿と歌唱力により、現地ハワイでは鳴り物入りでデビュー。

その後、アイリーはミュージックビジネスを学ぶ為、L.A.へと渡る。2002年にはロックシンガー PINKやチャカ・カーンのバックシンガーなどを務め、メインランドでのキャリアを重ねていく。2006年にはレゲエの聖地ジャマイカへと渡り、レッドストライプ主催のコンペに出場、ローカルラジオや現地メディアに注目された。2007年にはジャマイカのロイヤルレゲエファミリー、モーガン・ヘリテイジのプロダクションGedion Musicとサインを交わし、モーガン・ファミリーの一翼を担う。その後、モーガン・ヘリテイジのツアーオープニングアクトを務め、北米からカリブ、中南米からアフリカ、ヨーロッパ、UKまでツアーに同行。2008年にはミニアルバム「Ehiku」をリリース。2009年には「Ehiku」にボーナストラック5曲を加えた初の海外リリース盤として、日本から「THE LIFE OF LOVE」をリリース。その他、数多くのレゲエコンピレーションアルバムへの収録等、徐々にワールドワイドレゲエシーンの中で頭角を現してくる。現在ではハワイ、L.A.カリフォルニア、ロンドン、またアフリカを行き来しながら、アイランドミュージック界のドンFIJI（フィージー）、ノーキャリ・ポリネシアンレゲエコレクティヴ ValuFa（ヴァルファ）やMaxizamus（マキシザマス）との客演、ロンドンのリー・フランシスやサラーム・レミ、イタリアのAdriatic Sound 、渡航先でリンクしたアフリカの新人アーティスト達などともコラボを重ね、レコーディング、パフォーマンスを行っている。

フィージーをフィーチャーしたシングル “IT IS WUT IT IS“、”MY LOVE”はアイランドチャートでNo.1ヒットを記録。特に”IT IS WUT IT IS”は、ハワイアン航空のインフライトエンターテインメントにもチョイスされ、アイランドラジオステーションで長期に渡ってへヴィーローテーションされた一曲だ。

2012年に1st アルバム「THIS IS IRIE LOVE」をリリース。ボーナストラックを追加した日本編集盤もビクターよりリリース。2014年夏、ロンドンのリー・フランシスがプロデュースした “STEP UP” がハワイ全島でヒット、またハワイで撮影されたPVも公開され、ワールドワイドで注目される。2014年9月にはハワイ・オアフ島のインディペンデントレーベル EKMレコーズのオフィシャルDJ、DJ HAPA BOY（ハパボーイ）と共に初来日を果たし、横浜ではハワイで最も人気のある日本のレゲエ歌手、LIKKLE MAI（リクル・マイ）と共演。また浜松ではジャパニーズラヴァーズロックの歌姫Pushim（プシン）＆ Home Grown（ホーム・グロウン）のライヴゲストとして迎えられ、日本の聴衆、音楽関係者にライヴパフォーマンスにおける実力と存在感を魅せつけた。

その後、ロンドンのリー・フランシスがプロデュースするJ-POPカヴァー”BABY I LOVE YOU“をリリース。同時にハワイのパブリックチャータースクール支援プロジェクト “MANA MAOLI” コンピレーションCDに収録されたKimie Minerとのデュエット “ROOTED“（リーが手掛けた重厚なリディムによる）をはじめとしたMANA MAOLI COLLECTIVEへの参加、2016年には自らのアフリカンルーツに回帰した濃厚な2nd アルバム”We Rise”をクラウドファンディングによりドロップ。40組のハワイアンミュージックアーティスト達がバトン形式で出演する MANA MELE “HAWAI’I ALOHA : Playing For Change” ビデオ出演などに続き、2017年、Taz Vegas（タズ・ヴェガス）のニューシングル “Don’t Stop the Children” にジャマイカンシンガー Notch（ノッチ）と共にフィーチャー、目下、UKを含むワールドワイドヒットシングルとなっている。

8月にはアイランドミュージックグループ Opihi Pickers（オピヒ・ピッカーズ）時代からのソング・ライティング、Rebel Souljahz（レベルソウルジャーズ）やKolohe Kai（コロヘカイ）などのアイランドレゲエ人気グループを輩出したレーベル GO Aloha Entertainment でのプロデュース活動により、名実ともにハワイの名プロデューサーとなったImua Garza（イムア・ガルザ）のペンによるサマーシングル “MADE IN THE ISLANDS” が間もなくリリースされる（PVも同時公開予定）

またハワイ同様、ポリネシア文化圏であるタヒチのビールメーカー Hinano（ヒナノ）によるアパレルブランド Hinano Life のメンズライン “Te Aito” のホノルルでのローンチパーティーにも抜擢され、ライブパフォーマンスによる新曲発表が予定されている。

モデル、音楽活動の傍ら、プライヴェートではハワイの食を楽しむビデオ出演（第一弾はオアフ島・カイムキのロコに大人気のレストラン、ココヘッドカフェ）や“IRIE CYCLE（アイリーサイクル）”のスポーツインストラクターを勤めるなど、常に目が離せない存在である。

幼少の頃から歌を志したカイルアのディーヴァは、ハワイを起点としたアイランドルーツ～ポリネシア、また自らの血からアフリカンルーツをも追求し、ルーツに根ざしたアイランドミュージックシーンの中でもひときわ異彩を放つ最重要アーティストの一人へと成熟した。
