カリフォルニア・レイクポートに自身のスタジオ、音響会社 City of Light Recording & Sound Co.を経営。大型音響システムでUS TOP 40アーティストやローカルイベントのサポートを日々行っているプロデューサー、”KEITH”ことKEITH GAUDETTE。過去30年以上のキャリアを持つシンガーソングライターとして活動中だ。本作は1989年、ホノルルのSand Island Recordsによってリリースされたハワイとカリフォルニアを繋いで制作が行われたメガレア・ハワイアンAORファンクアルバムである。当時彼のレーベルマネージャーが所有していたワイキキビーチ南端にあるイリカイホテル10FのスイートにKEITHが約一ヶ月間滞在し書き上げられ、レコーディングはカリフォルニアで行われた。アルバムはホノルル市と念密にマーケティングを行ったユニークなプロジェクトであり、当時のハワイの風景を浮かび上がらせるコンセプトアルバムでもある。A-3 “KING KAMEHAMEHA”はハワイのクリスマスとも言えるカメハメハ・デイのためのクンフー・ファンク、A-4 “HOTEL STREET”はチャイナタウンの赤線エリアをシャットダウンするために商工会議所が仕掛けた曲という、何とも突っ込みどころ満載の楽曲が収録されている。ハワイ到着後、レンタカーでワイキキに入る瞬間がフラッシュバックするイントロ A-1 “LIFE IS A BEACH”〜アウトロにあたるB-5 “WHEN THE SUN SHINES”まで珠玉の10曲でハワイトリップー 過ぎ去る夏、そして深まる秋に想いを馳せながら楽しんでほしい一本。世界初オリジナルカセットリイシュー！

KEITH GAUDETTE, He runs his own studio, City of Light Recording & Sound Co., in Lakeport, California. also known as “KEITH”, is a producer who supports US TOP 40 artists and local events every day with a large sound system. He is active as a singer-songwriter with a career of more than 30 years. This album is a mega rare Hawaiian AOR funk album released by Sand Island Records Honolulu in 1989, connecting Hawaii and California. KEITH stayed for about a month in a suite on the 10th floor of the Ilikai Hotel at the southern tip of Waikiki Beach, which was owned by his label manager at the time, and was recorded in California. The album is a unique project that has been carefully marketed with the city of Honolulu, and is also a concept album that brings out the scenery of Hawaii at that time. A-3 “KING KAMEHAMEHA” is called Kungfu Funk for Kamehameha Day, which is also called Christmas in Hawaii, and A-4 “HOTEL STREET” is a song set by the Chamber of Commerce to shut down the red-light district in Chinatown. This album is full of fascinating songs. By listening to this album, you will flash back the moment you enter Waikiki after renting a car at the airport.
